What To Expect
Having a connection with your therapist is vital for you to experience the outcome you desire. My hope is that I can create an environment that fosters the feeling of safety where trust exists. Exploring which treatment approach that is best for you is important too and something that we can explore together.
Below you will find the treatment approaches that I offer:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps people process and heal from distressing memories, particularly those associated with trauma. It involves recalling a disturbing memory while the therapist guides you through bilateral stimulation—like side-to-side eye movements, taps, or tones—to help reprocess the memory in a safe, adaptive way. The goal is to lessen the negative emotional charge of the memory, allowing for a shift from a negative belief about the past to a more positive and adaptive perspective.
Attachment Based Therapy
Attachment based therapy can help you overcome adult perceptions and behaviors that may be a result of your childhood experiences. It is possible to learn how to trust others and create healthy, mutually fulfilling relationships as an adult, no matter what your childhood experiences were.
- Identify and discuss childhood experiences
- Understand how these experiences have created unhealthy attachment styles in adult relationships
- Learn how to foster meaningful connections to create secure attachments with others
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
The internal family systems model is a therapeutic modality used to help clients identify the root causes of their emotional and behavioral patterns or triggers.
- Identify parts of your system that get activated when faced with different circumstances
- In the IFS model, there are no “bad” parts. Rather, life experiences—like trauma—can create unhealthy roles and disorganization within the system.
- IFS focuses on the relationships between parts and the core Self
Christian Counseling
Incorporates both the disciplines of theology and psychology and recognizes that:
- The bible offers practical wisdom for all of our struggles and biblical concepts can provide specific direction and accountability.
- Discovering and believing the truth about who you are, how God sees you, can create the freedom that you deserve in your life.
- Whatever desires rule our hearts, will ultimately control our thoughts and behaviors. God wants to redeem our desires and use them for his good and holy purposes, because yes, you are here on purpose, for a purpose.
Christian Counseling challenges any beliefs that we have about ourselves, that goes against who God says we are:
- …loved (John 3:16)
- …His (1 John 3:1)
- …worthy (Zephaniah 3:17)
- …purposed (Jeremiah 29:11)
